1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the CoinScholar application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and CoinScholar.
2. Description of Service
CoinScholar is an iOS application that provides AI-powered coin identification, collection management, portfolio tracking, and related numismatic tools. The App is available on Apple's App Store and is designed exclusively for iPhone.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years of age to use CoinScholar. By using the App, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental or guardian consent to use the App and agree to these Terms.
4. Account Registration
To access most features, you must create an account using a valid email address and password, or authenticate via Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Notifying us immediately at support@coinscholar.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account
You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts to circumvent feature limits.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
Subscription tiers
CoinScholar offers three tiers: Free, Silver ($4.99/month or $39.99/year), and Gold ($8.99/month or $71.99/year). Features available at each tier are described in the App and on our website. Prices are in USD and may vary by region as determined by Apple.
Free trial
New subscribers who have not previously held a paid CoinScholar subscription on their Apple ID may be eligible for a 14-day free Gold trial. The trial is an introductory offer processed through Apple's StoreKit. Only one free trial is available per Apple ID. After the trial period, your subscription automatically converts to the paid Gold plan unless cancelled before the trial ends.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. The renewal price is the same as the initial subscription price unless you are notified otherwise.
Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time through iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → CoinScholar. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to your paid tier features until then. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.
Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple directly at reportaproblem.apple.com. CoinScholar has no ability to issue refunds for App Store purchases.
Tier limits
Scan limits, collection size limits, and feature availability are enforced per the tier you are subscribed to at the time of use. Downgrading from Gold to Silver may restrict access to features or collections that exceed Silver tier limits.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use CoinScholar to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Upload images that do not depict coins (e.g. attempting to exploit the AI identification system)
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
- Circumvent scan limits, tier restrictions, or other usage controls by any means
- Use automated scripts or bots to access the App or its backend services
- Interfere with the App's security, authentication systems, or other users' accounts
- Upload content that is illegal, harmful, or infringes the intellectual property rights of others
7. Coin Valuations — Disclaimer
Market valuations provided by CoinScholar are estimates for informational and educational purposes only. They are derived from third-party numismatic market data and AI analysis and do not constitute professional appraisals, financial advice, or guarantees of value. Actual coin values can vary significantly based on strike quality, eye appeal, certification status, market conditions at the time of sale, and other factors.
CoinScholar is not a licensed appraiser, dealer, or financial advisor. Do not rely solely on CoinScholar valuations for insurance coverage, estate valuation, sale pricing, or purchase decisions. Consult a certified numismatist or professional appraiser for significant transactions.
8. Intellectual Property
The CoinScholar application, including its design, code, text, graphics, icons, and AI models, is owned by CoinScholar and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
You retain ownership of the photos and content you upload to CoinScholar. By uploading content, you grant CoinScholar a limited licence to store, process, and display that content solely to provide the service to you.
9. Privacy
Your use of CoinScholar is subject to our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
CoinScholar is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or other harmful components. Coin identification results are probabilistic and may be inaccurate.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, CoinScholar shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, or financial losses arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to CoinScholar in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10.00, whichever is greater.
12. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that is harmful to other users, the App, or third parties.
Upon termination, your licence to use the App ends immediately. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimer of warranties, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution — shall survive.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. For material changes, we will provide notice through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.
